Nastee—an RIAA-certified Gold & Multi-Platinum Hip-Hop and Reggae engineer, producer, DJ, and emcee; was introduced to music in his mother's womb, as his father Albey Balgochian is a renowned bassist in the Blues & Jazz world, and his mother Jane Grenier is a tap dancer, poet and artist. Nastee was essentially birthed into music and art. He played tuba and bass in elementary school, and at the age of 12 he discovered Hip-Hop. Being the son of a musician, the family moved to different cities throughout his early life, living in places like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Austin and NYC. He taught himself how to scratch on the turntables by listening to Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit” and at the age of 15 was working as a hip hop duo with Damion "Dizzy D" Neville (son of Jazz singer Charmaine Neville and grandson of saxophonist Charles Neville) in New Orleans and Texas. From 1989 thru 1990 he performed DJing and MCing with his father on bass in the “One World” reggae band in greater New England.
